Los Angeles City Hall | Best Ordained Minister

As an ordained minister who has officiated thousands of LA wedding ceremonies, I always love a wedding at a city hall. They’re pieces of history that are preserved with time even as new development remakes the face of the city. And luckily for us, we have one of the most stunning city halls in the world right here in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles City Hall isn’t just the center of governmental activity in the Los Angeles in an area in downtown LA that stands as one of its best hubs of cultural activity. It’s an open, peaceful, and picturesque landmark that towers above the city which provides a perfect space for an intimate wedding ceremony. I’m in downtown Los Angeles on a weekly basis when a couple calls for an ordained minister, and the city hall remains one of my favorite buildings.

Los Feliz Theater | Best Minister for Weddings

As the best minister for weddings in Los Angeles, I can recommend the Los Feliz Theater as a great wedding venue. The Los Feliz Theater is a historic and important movie theater that regularly screens classic and contemporary movies from around the world. It’s modeled in a gorgeous architectural style that evokes the glamor of mid-century Hollywood design.

Opened in 1935, the Los Feliz Theater has been remodeled and used for a variety of purposes, including being one of the primary hosts of the American Cinematheque, which operates the largest of its three screening rooms. As a venue, the Los Feliz Theater boasts a sophistication and spacious interior that pleases both regular visitors and guests of your wedding ceremony. As a minister for weddings, I can imagine the movie curtain as the backdrop for a unique altar.

Los Angeles Central Library | Best LA Wedding

Wedged among modern skyscrapers, the Los Angeles Central Library is a testament to the city’s history and is one of the best LA wedding venue. Found in the core of downtown, it is a respite from the urban hustle while still being near many of Los Angeles’ hippest areas.

Along with other prominent buildings like the City Hall and the less prominent but still beautiful historic structures that color the cityscape, the Los Angeles Library is a vestige of a different era. It was constructed two years before the City Hall, which at the time was LA’s tallest building at just over four hundred fifty feet. Now it’s hardly noticeable in the city’s skyline.

Olvera Street | Best LA Wedding Minister

Located just north of Downtown Los Angeles, Olvera Street is a great historic wedding venue. As the best LA wedding minister (I hope), I’ve officiated thousands of weddings and some wedding locations just stick in your mind. Olvera Street is one of those. Always bustling with activity, it’s a fantastic place to experience LA-Mexican culture and to celebrate your wedding day.

Olvera Street was the original settlement in what became Los Angeles. Although its days as the center of the Spanish and then Mexican colonial town are long past, it keeps the tradition alive with a jumble of activity. Mexican restaurants, street vendors, and souvenir shops line its promenade, and you can often catch events including live music at its central gazebo.

The University of Southern California – better known to the world as USC – is a great LA wedding venue. As one of the world’s top universities, USC has been calling the brightest minds for over a century. But more than being a great place for academics, it has a sprawling campus filled with stunning architecture and dozens of beautiful places to get married, both discreetly and in a grandiose fashion.

The campus is over a square kilometer, and while many buildings are solely devoted to academics, they provide a beautiful backdrop for any wedding ceremony.

Diamond Bar Center | Best Los Angeles Wedding Venues

Although Diamond Bar isn’t usually thought of as a premier wedding destination, it has some of of the best Los Angeles wedding venues. The Diamond Bar Center is one of them.

In the San Gabriel Valley at the edge of the Chino Hills sits the Diamond Bar Center. Unless you’re looking for it, you probably won’t know it’s there. Driving up the hills through the sparse chaparral foliage (and at the right time of year a poppy bloom!) the wilderness opens out in front of you as you reach the Diamond Bar Center.

Easy Airport Weddings

Airport weddings are great for those who want to get married in Los Angeles for legal reasons. Los Angeles County is one of the few places in the United States the issues a confidential license, which is a plus for many couples. Unlike a public marriage license that you obtain by waiting in line at the County Clerk’s office, a Los Angeles confidential marriage license doesn’t require witnesses for your ceremony and doesn’t make your marriage records public once they are filed – only you and your fiancé can access them. In other words, the LA confidential marriage license is great for a private ceremony and those couples that don’t want heaps of junk mail crowding up their mailboxes.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) | LAX Wedding

Hundreds of planes arrive at and depart from the Los Angeles International Airport – better known as LAX – every day. An LAX wedding is perfect for couples in town for only a day but who want to get married in LA. I have performed plenty of impromptu wedding ceremonies at LAX and other airports throughout Southern California.

But if you’re in town for only a day or perhaps even just the layover between two flights, why would you want to get married at the airport? Well, besides being a unique wedding venue of its own, LAX is the gateway for out of state visitors to obtain a confidential marriage license. Los Angeles County is the only county in the United States that offers couples confidential marriage licenses.

The Last Bookstore | LA Wedding Minister

Ballrooms and banquet halls are great for king-sized traditional weddings, but what if you want something smaller, more intimate, quirkier perhaps? The Last Bookstore is a perfectly unique LA wedding venue for a small improvised elopement or even a large wedding. A book-loving bride and groom will be enchanted by the Last Bookstore’s vibrant color, unique décor, and funky layout.

la wedding minister

The Last Bookstore is both massive and cozy. With two stories and rows upon rows of bookshelves stocked with everything from contemporary nonfiction to millennia-old epic poems to premodern classics to postmodern experimental narratives, nearly every conceivable niche of literature is covered. Walking through the store is a journey through unimaginably diverse ideas, stories, and histories.

la wedding minister

And yet despite the high ceilings and never-ending shelves, it has an almost rustic feeling. Instead of feeling like most mega-stores – a harshly lit Barnes and Noble – the dark wood shelving, cushioned seating, plentiful windows and deep ocean blue walls create a commodious atmosphere.

You can find a corner nook where you favorite author’s books rest on the shelf and be entirely undisturbed while you look over the back cover synopses or begin reading your next novel.

la wedding minister

Or take your wedding inside the store. There are innumerable niches within the Last Bookstore where you can hold an impromptu ceremony. Or for a larger wedding, contact the store in advance and they can organize the whole affair for you. Rent out the store for an evening and hold your ceremony and reception among the pages of the greats.

Contact the Last Bookstore today to the wedding of a bookworm’s dream. As an LA wedding minister who has perused their shelves many times, I can’t recommend it enough.

California Science Center – Los Angeles Marriage

On your wedding day, chemistry can be observed in two forms at the California Science Center. An unusual venue for a Los Angeles marriage? Maybe. But if you want an exciting, quirky wedding, there is no better place.

Los Angeles Marriage

Located in Exposition Park just south of the prestigious University of Southern California (USC), the California Science Center attracts thousands of visitors each year. From the Art of the Brick LEGO sculptures, to microcosms of the world’s foremost ecosystems, and much more, the Science Center is a never-ending source of entertainment.

Los Angeles Marriage

One of its most enduringly popular attractions is the Space Shuttle Endeavour. Although a relatively recent addition to the California Science Center, it has become a staple there. I have visited the Endeavour and can attest to its magnificence.

Los Angeles Marriage

Exhibition Park in itself is also a worthy place for adventure. On either side, the California Science Center is flanked by other captivating venues. The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, the LA Coliseum, the California African American Museum, and the Exposition Park Rose Garden are all just outside its doors.

Getty Center – LA Wedding Officiant

As an LA wedding officiant, I have been a part of civil ceremonies at every venue imaginable – large ballrooms, small restaurants, very public amusement parks, and intimate backyard hot tubs. But the Getty Center, with its sleek but stunning architecture and its massive collection of artwork, is one of the best and will surely enchant every wedding guest, not to mention the lucky couple.

La Wedding Officiant

Sustained by the J. Paul Getty Trust, the Getty Center opened in 1997. The complex’s unique white facade is uniquely modern while still calling back to previous eras of human history. The Getty Center finds itself straddling two ridges on the outskirts of the city bordering the prosperous Bel Air neighborhood. Its prime location offers some of the best views in Los Angeles. In the foreground sit beautiful mansions, and in the distance high-rise buildings mixed among the unique neighborhoods that provide Los Angeles with its charm.
